Fleet Foxes

"It's like mother nature had children and they formed a band..."
Picture my friend Derek took when we saw Fleet Foxes play downtown at Spreckels earlier this year.

Marseille

I took this shot on my plane ride from Geneva to Barcelona. This was the first day some airports started to allow limited air travel after the historic Eyjafjallajokull Iceland volcano eruption and subsuquent ash plume. It was actually an extremely clear day and I had a great view of the Alps and then the Mediterranean coastline. When taking this photo..to be honest, at the time I really wasn't sure what city this was or exactly where along the Mediterranean I was. Thanks to google maps though I was able to see that this is indeed Marseille, France.
The body of water in the lower left of the photo is the Etanf de Berre. I'm pretty sure that it is a freshwater lake. The body of water in the upper right just under the wing is the Mediterranean Sea.

Marseille can be seen just above the skinny white cloud. There is a small island just offshore too. After Paris, Marseille is the second largest city in France. Hopefully one day I'll get to experience Marseille from the ground looking up.

Fes Medina

The Fes medina(seen here mostly in the right part of the photo) may or may not be the world's largest car-free city. It is, however, the world's largest maze. Once you enter there's no telling where or when you're coming out. When I finally escaped I was on the complete opposite side of the medina nowhere near where I thought I was or where I wanted to end up. I had to huff it back up the road for probably 3 miles to make it back to the main entrance and back to the Ville Nouvelle(new city built by the French) where I was staying. All while it was getting dark. I took this picture during my miles long trek back. What an experience..

Getting all Cosmic

Got a new surfboard a few weeks ago. A custom 6'8" 5-fin e-wing Campbell Brothers Bonzer shaped by Malcolm Campbell and glassed by Moonlight Glassing.
My old boss Peter St. Pierre did all of the amazing cosmic space air spray artwork on the bottom. Gary Stuber glassed it, Dave Kerr hotcoated..routed the fin box.and glassed the fins, Kenny Mann sanded it, Travis Harder performed quality control, Mark Donnellan glossed it, not sure who buffed and polished it. The fins were made by Jack Jenson.
A lot of work goes into making a surfboard. I think one of the best parts about getting this board was just having an excuse to go hangout with all my old coworkers and friends at Moonlight Glassing and Chris Christenson Surfboards factory next door.

Marine Ply wood fins

2011 is the 40th year of the Bonzer design and concept.

This board is for winter and big/powerful waves. I've already ridden it a few times and it works INSANE! If you are curious to know about the bonzer and its design go to bonzer5.com
