Today I finally got around to reading the second part of the Eiger article entitled The Eiger Contradiction
Part II in Aplinist Magazine. The cover of that particular issue is a
shot taken from the film The Eiger Sanction. It was taken from above and
shows Clint Eastwood hanging on the Eiger north wall with Grindelwald
far down below in the distance.
Strangely enough, I turn on the tv tonight only to find that The Eiger Sanction is on. What are the odds?
The article really gave me a new and humbling perspective on what is arguably the most famous, historical, and revered climbing mountain in the world.
Being around it so much all my life..you hear all the old stories and rumblings. This article truly puts everything into focus.
Its just very strange to think that a mountain that is practically in our cousins backyard has such momentous history and influence.
For me, its always been just something that you didn't even think twice about..just another mountain among many that was always there looming in the distance.
Just goes to show how spoiled we all are.
