Niesen

It is amazing how important and vital a singular mountain can be in life. This might be one of the greatest things that I miss about living in Switzerland. Just the stability and comfort of knowing that every time I could look out the window there it would be. Living at the foot of an Alp is extremely humbling. It really makes you realize just how insignificant you are in the greater scheme of the world. I can't tell you how many times a day I would look up at this.
Living next to The Alps is a lot like living next to the ocean. You don't realize how much you are drawn to each respectively until they are suddenly not there. I remember when I came back to San Diego I kept looking out my bedroom window continuously. The mind is a strange thing. I knew I was back in SD yet I couldn't help but keep parting the blinds looking out hoping that maybe it might have magically appeared out of thin air.
