Boogie Down Bronx

Opening Day is FINALLY here on Monday!
It's been a long offseason but my all time absolute favorite sport baseball is back!!
It's gonna be real strange not being in NY for Opening Day this year.
I guess the good news is that since I won't be in the Bronx this time, half the Yankees starting players won't be showing up either..Hah.

The Padres will be playing the Mets at Citi Field in Queens on Monday @1pm
The Yankees will be taking care of business in the Bronx against the redsox also @1pm.

Here's to a GREAT 2013 Baseball season..
Can't wait to attend a bunch of Padres games this year

Really looking forward to heading out to NYC sometime in the next few months for my usual bronx routine: garlic fries, beer, pizza, knots, arthur ave, bronx ale house, fordham, and some games at Yankee Stadium hanging out with my sister!

Eishockey

Saturday February 23 Markus and I took the train to Bern to see SC Bern take on Zug. They play their games at the PostFinance Arena. It was my first "pro" hockey game. Very cool! The stadium is awesome! Great atmosphere and the fans get really into it. There is even a guy who stands on an elevated platform with a megaphone and leads everyone with group chants and yelling. Bern started out scoring two quick goals and after a bit were leading 4-1. Zug came back and ended up winning the game 4-5 unfortunately. There was a ton of action and two very good fights. Attendance was about 20,000 for the game which was pretty good considering that both teams had already clinched their playoff spots and were essentially just playing out the final few games of the regular season. I can just imagine how exciting the playoff games must be. Leaving the stadium after the game it was absolutely FREEZING. FREEZING snowing. but it was AWESOME
had a GREAT time with Markus

The playoffs have begun and Bern won the first round against Geneve-Servette HC. It was a great series with Bern coming back from being down 3 games to 1 to win the series in 7.

Ironically Bern is now playing against VC Zug in the semifinals. They won their first game at home but lost yesterday..so the series is now tied 1-1.

Addicted

Lately I find myself really wanting to go ski. But it's over now and it's a long time until next year.
I have to be thankful for the epic days I had this winter.

I remember coming back to Spiez early on Monday morning after being in Bern for the weekend. All that day the weather was just perfect blue skies and sunny. I went to Thun for a while in the late afternoon/early evening and the mountains were so clear and close it felt like you could just reach out and touch them. Especially while waiting on the platform at the Thun train station at dusk in the evening light with the white peaks basked in the refection of the red setting sun contrasting against the fading blue sky. The whole day just praying that tomorrow would be the same because I just HAD to be up skiing in THOSE mountains.

It was the same feeling as being stuck somewhere when you know that the surf is going off and you're missing out on it.
Throughout the duration of that day I came to the realization of how important skiing in those mountains meant to me and Right then and there while waiting on that platform I knew that I was a ski addict.

One look out the window that next morning was all it took. As you can tell from the picture..the weather held off and stayed perfect for one more day and, as they say, the rest was history... An Absolutely EPIC day! One I'll be remembering for a long long time.

Sunrise

It's hard to explain the humbleness and gratitude that existed at this moment in time. Staying with family and Waking up in this sleepy village in the Alps and going outside on the balcony to see the sun's rays appearing over the mountains. Blue skies and just knowing that a full day of awesome skiing awaits.

Not Good

It's never a good thing to return back to the states. This time was a little less painful knowing that I will probably be back(for good) to Switzerland in December. It still sucks coming back "home." Always sad leaving everyone. I'm terrible at goodbyes

 I think that's the Matterhorn?..

The Mountain Range in my Living Room

Just as beautiful from the air as it is from the ground.

The Next Generation

They're much better skiers than I am that's for sure.
